Importance of operational safety for cranes

As we all know that all the construction crane, port crane and engineering crane are used to lift heavy things, so the operational safety is very important, if the operation has something wrong, the result is unthinkable, so no matter when we operate the crane, we should pay attention to the operational safety. There are mainly two occasions you should pay attention to especially.

Before operation the crane

When we begin to operate the crane, you should make sure all the parts are normal, such as the hook, steel wire rope, the track and etc. Check all the aspects of the crane to ensure the safety of operating. What’s more, the operators should receive professional training and have the operating license.

When operating the crane

1. The first thing should be put into consideration is the maximum weight, no matter which kind of crane, the heavy loads must be within the limits of the maximum weight, so when operating the crane, the operators should make clear the load carrying capacity.
2. When there is something unusual happens, the operators must ring the alarm timely. Some unusual things like the following:

• The sight of operating crane is not clear.
• When there is a sudden change in the weather.
• When there is another crane nearly approach the running crane in the span.
• When some people come into contact with the lifting heavy things carelessly.

3. There are many signals about operating cranes, so when operating cranes, operators must obey the demand of signals.  
4. When there is something wrong with the power, for example, when the power is cut off suddenly, operators should put all the hand shank into “zero” button until the power is normal.
5. We know the crane can move the objects into other place, generally from one side to the opposite side. So during the normal operation condition, it is forbidden to change the direction of the operation.
6. There are other situations not suitable to lift objects:

• Unclear commanding signals or giving the arbitrary orders
• Objects with edge angel and unmatched lifting capacity
• Objects under the ground
• Slanting pull hang on heavy objects
• Exceeding the standard loading capacity

To sum up, safety of operation is quite important, no matter what cranes you operation, the rules must be as reference.
