Generally, double girder cranes consist of three parts, mechanical structure, electrical structure and metal structure.Mechanical parts: The mechanical parts of double girder cranes can be divided into three mechanisms, lifting mechanism, trolley running mechanism and bridge travel mechanism. The lifting mechanism is used to lift loads vertically, the trolley running mechanism is used for the lateral movement of loads, the bridge travel mechanism is used for the longitudinal movement of the lifting trolley and loads in order to achieve the loads transportation, loading and unloading in the three – dimensional space.

Safety protection measures are important for double girder cranes
Double girder crane is a kind of representative crane in hoisting machinery, it is also a kind of crane with a wide range of application. In order to ensure the safety of double girder cranes operating, some routine safety inspection should be carried out during the operation of double girder cranes. Inspection items and the main points are as follows.
- As for the pedestrian passageway, the place where double girder cranes can reach or people can reach, it is required to maintain all of these regions regularly, the safe distance between fixed objects and moving objects should not be less than 0.5m. As for the place where double girder cranes can not reach and place that has no passageway, the safe distance between fixed objects and moving objects can not be less than 0.1m . If the safe distance isn’t enough, some effective protection measures should be carried out.
- The performance of lifting height limiter, travel limit switch and interlock device are regular, safe and reliable.
- The main components of double girder cranes meet safety requirements: the opening increases should be less than 15% of the original size, the torsional deformation is less than 10%, plate hook bushing wear should be less than 50% the original size, plate hook spindle wear should be less than 5% of the original size without peeling, burrs, weld repairs, and there are no obvious defects on hook rack and pulley.
- Wear and corrosion of steel wire rope surface should be less than 40% of the diameter of steel wire, the broken wire should be less than 10% of the total wire number in a twisting distance. There are no obvious thinner, extrusion deformation, annealing, burning, etc. The connection of clips and wedge used to connect and fix the wire rope end are in good condition without looseness, linking piece should be not less than two, the number of clip should be not less than three. There is no crack on coiling block, connection and fix have no loose; wall wear is less than 20% of the original wall thickness. Safe volume is not less than 2 laps, diameter ratio of coiling block and wire rope meets the requirements. Balance wheels are fixed in good condition, the wire rope should meet relevant requirements. Arrester has no crack, looseness, and serious wear, arrester has sufficient brake capacity, and the wear brake band is less than 50% of the original thickness.
